Taiwan’s Street Vendors are hot

The variety and amount of food at the night markets… every week there is a new creation in addition to the existing selection. Oyster pancake, grilled chicken skewer, fish ball skewer, pot stickers (pan fried dumplings), smelly tofu, salt and pepper chicken, grilled octopus, fruit on sticks, etc….. of course, if you want something more exotic… apparently snake soup and blood shots (snake blood + strong liquor) are available at some dodgy markets.

Taipei, Taiwan.

First Portuguese ship to sight taiwan

I am headed off to Taiwan early in the new year 2008, for a new business venture and also doing some marketing consultancy work for an English beer importer.

Taiwan's history is rich and interesting and since I am Portuguese I was curious to find a little more about the first Portuguese ship to sight Taiwan. It is claimed that the Portuguese were the first Europeans to sight and land on Taiwan. I liked Taiwan and enjoyed the one month stay.

So who was the first Portuguese ship to sight Taiwan (Formosa - the beautiful island) ?

Answer: Unknown, I have contacted some historians in Taiwan and Portugal for assistance, you would think wikipedia would have the information and google to come up with the search result goods.
